Are there any costs for this service?

The comparison and switching service that we provide here at Compare My Business Energy comes at no cost for clients. The energy suppliers make available comission payments to us every time we introduce a new customer to them, we receive the same rate of commission from all our suppliers which means we have no bias towards a particular supplier.

How often are the prices updated?

The energy prices generated on the Compare My Business Energy website are updated as soon as we are informed of changes by the energy supplier(s). Some of our suppliers give us prices which sometimes remain the same for as long as three months, whereas other energy suppliers provide us with a daily price changes. The moment we receive these prices, our pricing team update the website site immediately so that you can be assured that the prices shown are the ones you will be charged by your selected energy supplier.

Who is my contract with?

Your energy contract is between you and the supplier (direct), the energy supplier you are contracted to will bill you directly, Compare My Business Energy does not bill clients for energy contracts.

Who currently supplies my energy?

If you’re unsure who supplies your business gas or electricity, firstly try to find a recent bill or speak to the previous occupier of your business premises. How long does it take to switch business energy suppliers?

The switch can take between four to six weeks (21 to 29 working days). However, various elements can affect the timeline, for example, if your business is bound by contract which has not come to an end with the existing supplier,  or if your new supplier does not have all the information they require to complete your registration and switch.

My business is relocating, what do I need to do?

Firstly, you will need to find out who currently supplies energy to your new property, then inform the supplier to change the account to your business without agreeing a new contract. Thereafter, get in touch with us and we will happily help you search the business energy market for the best deal available for your business needs.

My MPAN (electricity meter number) is not recognised. Why is this?

MPAN numbers displayed on your bill are not always accurate. If this is the case, click here to view the distributor MPAS service contact details for your region, who will be able to confirm your accurate MPAN number.

What is MPAN and MPRN?

MPAN and MPRN numbers are unique reference numbers for your electricity and gas supplies. MPAN stands for metering point administration number and relates to electricity. It's also sometimes called a 'supply number' or 'S number'. MPRN stands for meter point reference number and relates to your gas supply.
